Meditation Mondays: Meditation and New York City get along

New York City is a busy robust place, with a lot of stimulation; people, noise and endless distractions. One would think that the chaos and clamor of the city create a difficult meditative environment, but according to Mary, the hustle and bustle make it a perfect environment to hone meditation skills.

“New Yorkers, myself included, commonly rush from one activity to the next and forget to breathe. When I find myself having a busier than usual day with a less-than-calm mental state, I use Transportation Meditation to return to my breathing,” Mary told us. “I suggest to my students that anytime they are on a bus, subway, in an Uber or walking the city streets, turn their thoughts to just watch the inhale and exhale and receive the benefits of a calmer, more centered you by the time you reach your next destination.”
