On the whole, most New Yorkers seldom lend thought to meditation, yet the pressures and stressors inherent in city living are exactly what meditation aims to remedy. We wanted to find out more about its benefits and how we can implement meditation without any experience practicing, so we sat down with NYHRC’s Meditation expert Mary Krensavage, and here’s what she said:
Meditation is for everyone.
“I often hear new students say that they are not experienced enough to meditate. I tell them that meditation is for everyone. It does not require fancy equipment, money, body type or even a gym membership. Regardless of whether you are a seasoned meditation practitioner or beginner, if you have 5 minutes or longer, a meditation practice will bring calm to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body. Meditating has endless benefits, and consistent practice can rid you of stress, relieve pain, improve sleep, boost endorphins, increase brain power, align us with our best self, and much more. Just some guidance from a meditation teacher is required to learn. Join any meditation class at NYHRC to get started and you’ll be practicing every chance you get”.
